Part Condition & Variants

NEW parts are taken directly from new, sealed sets or from a Pick-a-Brick Wall at a LEGO store. Note that sometimes even new parts may have minor scratches and scuffs because of the rubbing together of parts during transportation and storage.

USED parts may have minor play wear and scratches. As a rule of thumb, we only sell gently used parts that we ourselves would like to receive when buying used parts and to use in our own builds. All used parts have been carefully washed in small batches, air-dried and manually inspected before inclusion into our inventory. We do our best to exclude items with major defects and dents. Note that tiles and transparent parts are more likely to have some minor scratches or wear.

MINIFIGURE HAND-HELD ACCESSORIES AND WEAPONS. All minifigures (new and used) come ONLY with the accessories that are listed in their description. Other hand-held accessories or weapons are NOT included.

We do NOT assemble NEW MINIFIGURES anymore, so that you can have a bit of fun assembling them yourself upon receipt :) Please note that some of the new minifigures in our stock have already been assembled. We will list in the comments for each new minifigure whether it is sold assembled or not. If a new minifigure came with a cape or any other bagged or boxed accessory, we will do our best to keep those accessories in their original packaging when we ship the minifigure.

USED MINIFIGURES are stored in our inventory and will be shipped fully assembled, including capes and any other accessories.

We try to be as meticulous as possible to distinguish PART VARIANTS (ALTERNATES) (parts that differ from one production run of a set to another, and are typically mold variations of parts). We list ALTERNATES under their respective IDs. If you are interested in a particular variation of a part, please contact us via email and ask for a picture to confirm that we have exactly the part variant that you need.

STICKERED parts are all used parts, and we do not have any control of sticker placement on them. We only list parts where we think the sticker was applied as directed by the manual of the respective set. Older stickers and large stickers are more likely to show signs of play wear. To preserve stickers, the stickered parts are the only used parts that have NOT been washed - instead, we wipe them individually with a lightly wet cloth and air-dry. Please feel free to request pictures via BrickLink Messaging if you are concerned about quality of the stickered parts.

Note that not all authentic parts have the “LEGO” lettering on them. Some authentic LEGO parts are only marked with a copyright sign (©), a number, or nothing at all.

All parts are stored in the smoke-free and pet-free environment.

 


Color & Tint Variations

TINT VARIATIONS. Because of the dye injection system that LEGO now uses to create colored parts, tint variations are normal and are more common for some colors than for the others (some users reported tint variations even for parts that came within the same box). We do not differentiate between tint variations, and therefore you may receive parts in the same color with slight tint variations.

RETIRED COLORS (OF USED PARTS). We put a lot of effort to correctly identify colors of used parts that we list in our store. Around 2003-2004, LEGO introduced a new palette, in which some old colors, such as Light Gray, Dark Gray, and Brown (along with several others), were replaced with similar new colors, such as Light Bluish Gray, Dark Bluish Gray, and Reddish Brown, respectively. These new colors can sometimes be hard to distinguish from their old counterparts. Unless we are positive that a given used part is in one of the old colors, we will list them under a corresponding new color. If color is a major concern for you, please consider ordering new parts.

DISCOLORATION is a known issue for LEGO bricks. It can be particularly noticeable for older White, Blue and Yellow parts. However, we do not list any parts with severe discoloration unless it is a hard-to-find/vintage part, in which case the condition will be noted in the comment for that part. As noted above, if color is a major concern for you, please consider ordering new parts or request pictures via BrickLink Messaging prior to placing your order.

 


Material Variations

BRITTLE PARTS. In the past, LEGO produced some parts that are brittle and can crack very easily. Reddish Brown, Blue, Green and Dark Red parts are among most frequently encountered offenders. While LEGO appears to have fixed the issue, older brittle parts are largely indistinguishable from the newer, non-brittle ones, and there is nothing we can do to exclude the brittle ones from our store inventory.

DIFFERENCES IN PLASTIC. Historically, LEGO produced parts from several different types of plastic. For example, the majority of LEGO parts are now made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), some BIONICLE parts were reportedly made of polypropylene, and production of transparent parts have been relatively recently switched from polycarbonate to methyl methacrylate-ABS. We do not differentiate between the plastic types, and therefore, you may receive parts with plastic variations, which can result in somewhat different appearance and different susceptibility to wear and scratches.

 


If We Found a Mistake (Just in Case)

Nobody's perfect and neither are we (unfortunately!)

We double-, triple- and quadruple-check our inventory, but at the end of the day, we are still only humans (fortunately?), and so – while we are not aware of, and we hope there aren't any – there still might be some discrepancies in our catalog.

If before we ship your order we notice that any part that you ordered is damaged or missing in the inventory, we will let you know via email – within 1 business day of your order placement.

  • If we determine that it is a very common part, we will ship the order without it and refund the price of the missing part.
  • If it is NOT a very common part, or we think that it is an important part of your order, we will wait to ship until we receive a response from you. If you have an item in your order that is the specific reason for purchasing with us, please mention it in your order notes.
